What do you mean for my outcome:

I'm a little confused, I found some of the descriptions vague. Please forgive my ignorance and be patient with me, but I would like it if someone could reiterate this. First of all I am using Photoshop CS4.

Step 1: Fill the picture with a colour. In this instance black was chosen.

Step 2: Blind out the background Paint EKG Line. Must I add a new layer and send it at the bottom of Step 1? Is Step 1 colouring in a layer on top of the background?

Step 3: Make a gradient. Any gradient?

Step 4: Fade in the background and give gradient a shine (inside and outside). I do not end up with what you have in the picture below this step. Just a coloured background.

Step 5: Now this step is the one that gets me the most. Has not image ready being incorporated into later additions of photoshop? So I must duplicate the frame? And then what? Everything after this I find incomprehensible and do not end up with anything like what you have.

I don't mean to be picky, just a tad confounded. I'm not familiar with some of these processes, so, again, please excuse my ignorance. Any help gratefully received.
